GfL conducts Aeronautical Study on taxiway centre line deviation from EASA CS-ADR-DSN standards
August 2025 | Safety Assessment
GfL was commissioned by a major German airport to conduct a safety assessment (
Aeronautical Study) of a non-compliant taxiway centre line. The background is a
deviation from the requirements of EASA CS-ADR-DSN, as the taxiway centre line on a taxiway curve runs parallel to the inner edge of the taxiway instead of parallel to the outer edge.
The analysis, which was also based on
historical taxiing movements from ADS-B data, showed that the risks posed by all identified hazards are either acceptable or tolerable. Regarding the hazard classified as tolerable, the airport operator has already implemented risk mitigation measures that comply with the ALARP principle. Therefore, additional risk mitigation measures were not necessary.
The investigation confirms that, despite the deviation from EASA requirements, the operation is safe and compliant with regulations.
