Contract concluded between GfL and the SES Joint Undertaking (JU) in Brussels: The Single European Sky ATM Research Programme (SESAR) is a pan-European initiative launched by the European Commission and EUROCONTROL to standardise, harmonise and synchronise services in the field of European Air Traffic Management (ATM) with a budget of €2.1 billion. Almost all European civil and military air navigation service providers, national and international legislative organisations, the aircraft industry, airlines, aircraft operators and users as well as other affected partners on the ground and in the air are members of SESAR.
SESAR is organised in three phases, the second phase, development phase (2008-2013), includes all necessary activities to prepare the implementation of the master plan developed in the definition phase. This phase is now ready for evaluation. GfL was entrusted with the evaluation of the work package (WP) 16 "R&D Transversal Areas". It focuses on the topics Safety & Security Management, Environment, Contingency and Human Performance Management.
