December 2016 | Safety Assessment
On behalf of Dusseldorf Airport Company GfL drew up guidelines for conducting safety assessments. In future these guidelines will be applied by users of different departments in a standardized manner, especially when structural/technical modifications (e.g., new construction of elements on airside as taxiways) or changes in operational procedures (e.g., modification of operating agreements) are made. Therefore airport-specific constraints (infrastructure, operating procedures etc.) on the one hand as well as general elements of safety assessments (hazard analysis, risk assessment/evaluation and derivation of measures) on the other hand were considered. These theoretical basics are transferred into practical application by carrying out a workshop at Dusseldorf airport scheduled for February 2017. According to this, GfL focusses increasingly on the development of procedural requirements concerning safety assessments, such as tailored safety assessments for airports being members of ADV with regard to regulatory deviations found in national specifications according to NfL and new European standards according to EASA.
