After successfully delivering ETAS 2.0 (fuel consumption calculation of jet aircraft) to DFS in September 2016 (see news September 2016) GfL has been providing the tool’s expansion to DFS by adding further features. Now version 2.1 also permits calculations of fuel consumption for aircraft with turboprop engines. In addition, calculation routines were implemented allowing to determine pollutant emissions (e.g., NOX, COX, soot etc.) for both kinds of engines. Thus DFS has now an efficient computing environment for analyzing and evaluating specific fuel consumption as well as pollutant emissions for daily conducted flights. Consequently the current version ETAS 2.1 can help to optimize flight trajectories towards fuel and all other relevant emissions thus allowing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
