German airport association (ADV) commissions implementation of generalized safety assessments regarding recognized deviations between national NfL specifications and European guidelines according to EASA CS-ADR-DSN

April 2016 | Safety Assessment

On behalf of the airport association ADV, GfL assesses the flight operational safety for specific deviations between the national NfL specifications and the European guidelines in accordance with EASA CS-ADR-DSN. These essentially include the aspects of obstacle boundary surfaces as well as lighting, marking and signage. The assessment procedure is based on the requirements of the BMVI as set out in the "Framework Manual for Aviation Administration". The aim of the safety assessment is to prove, as far as possible, whether the safety requirements of both directives are equivalent (so-called Equivalent Level of Safety, ELOS) or whether they induce increases or decreases in safety.
