The city of Freiburg im Breisgau orders the examination of possible damages to third parties through the construction of the new SC stadium

The installation of additional stations for the city train are part of the extensive designs for the intended construction of the new football stadium in Freiburg which is located in close proximity to the existing airport. In general, these stations are only served during football ganers or other events in the stadium. One of the train stations is supposed to be built behind the south end of the airport. This station would be placed in the direct take-off or approach path (take-offs to the south, landings to the north) of the aircrafts. The questions arises whether the passengers are at a higher risk while waiting before and after football games due to the station‘s exposed position. GfL has been awarded the contract to determine the „external risk“ for the people surrounding the train station. For this purpose, GfL applies the approved external risk model which has already been verified and qualitatively proven (for more information about the method see here). Results should be available in spring of 2016.
