April 2014 | Environment
In April scientists at TU Dresden in the field of turbomachinery, airplane operations and stationary gas turbines met at DNV-GL to determine the effort for conversions of used jet engines to so-called aero derivatives. These conversions are intended to temporarily buffer peak loads in the RWE power supply system, typically expected in winter seasons due to the transition to renewable energy. Therefor a power output in the gigawatt range is required which a park of aero derivatives would be able to supply.
