GfL analyses the possibility of a reduced OCA for an existing RNAV (GPS) approach procedure at Donauwörth Heliport

January 2014 | Performance Analyses

In March 2012 GfL conducted an Aeronautical Study (see here) on behalf of Airbus Helicopters (former Eurocopter) stating that safe and regular operations can be maintained at any time at Donauwörth Heliport. This study confirmed the actual OCA (Obstacle Clearance Altitude) to be ICAO-compliant. Due to recent changes in the relevant regulations the OCA may be reduced. GfL is tasked to analyse the changes to point out the benefits of a possible OCA reduction. Target of this survey is to minimize the OCA in a way that ensures maximum operational availability while maintaining high safety standards.
