Extension of Risk analysis on helicopter flight operations at the University Hospital Zurich

August 2021 | Safety Assessment

The University Hospital Zurich (USZ) has two rooftop helipads that may only be approached under visual flight rules (VFR). The structural design of the roof landing areas does not meet all the requirements of the EASA/ICAO guidelines (in particular the obstacle situation). GfL prepared a risk analysis for this purpose, which is now to be extended in the light of the Swiss Major Accidents Ordinance to include secondary effects of a possible helicopter crash. The completion of the work is planned for the end of the current year.
