GfL Awarded Research on Radar and ILS Compatibility at Frankfurt/Main Airport

August 2012 | Airport Planning

On behalf of the real estate company Gateway Gardens GfL conducts an Aeronautical Study (AS) at Frankfurt/Main Airport which examines the construction of buildings higher than 45m. After the approval for the construction of the skyscraper “Alpha Rotex” the entire area “Gateway Gardens” will now be analyzed concerning its risks for flight operations.
The AS includes research on obstacle aspects as well as issues concerning the Radar and ILS compatibility of the buildings. Architectural guidelines that ensure the uninterrupted operation of the ASR/SSR-Radar and the ILS-facilities for runway 25R and 25C are expected be defined.
With this project GfL extends it engagement in the field of high-frequency technology a fact of which costumers – especially operators and planners of Wind Power Stations – will benefit. The project will be assisted by Flight Calibration Services GmbH. The planned completion of the project will be spring 2013.
