The precise determination and evaluation of the flight-specific fuel consumption and thus the environmental performance of aircraft is a central task in aviation. GfL developed the Enhanced Trajectory Analysis System (ETAS), which allows the precise calculation of flight-specific fuel consumption for aircraft with jet and turboprop engines as well as the determination of emissions (e.g. COX, NOX, soot, etc.).
The first customer of this software is DFS together with the "Arbeitsgemeinschaft Optimiertes Fliegen", which currently includes the airlines Lufthansa Group, TUIfly, Condor Flugdienst and Germania. ETAS enables the daily, precise determination and evaluation of flight-specific consumption and thus the environmental performance of all flights operated by the working group members, as stored in DFS's radar data processing system FANOMOS. This regular performance measurement, which is based on innovative calculation methods also developed at the Technical University of Dresden, will make a worldwide contribution to the eco-efficient design of air traffic. It will also be possible to achieve a significantly higher quality in the determination of key performance indicators in accordance with the SES Performance Scheme (EU Regulation 691/2010), according to which all air navigation service providers in Europe have had to report regularly since 2012.
